Left / Right Forward · Stay Dangerous
Stretch the defense and give the ball carrier somewhere forward to play. Do not both come back to the same ball. One can show for it while the other stays ready to run behind.
Formation Detail
A formation is just our starting map. What matters is what each Guardian does next — where to move, who to help and how we stay connected when the game gets fast.
Formation 01
Best for: attacking with numbers without putting all three attackers on the same line. Two forwards stay high and occupy defenders. The attacking midfielder becomes our covered forward — starting a step behind them, finding the ball underneath the pressure, then arriving late into space where he can become very difficult to track.
Stretch the defense and give the ball carrier somewhere forward to play. Do not both come back to the same ball. One can show for it while the other stays ready to run behind.
Think like a forward, but begin one step behind the front two. Let them occupy the defenders while you find the ball underneath them. Turn toward goal, combine with a forward, or carry the ball into the space they create. Because you start deeper, you can arrive into the attack without a defender already standing on you. When we lose it, recover into the center first. Win it. Look. Go.
Stay wide enough that the field feels big when we attack. If the ball is on the other side, slide toward the middle enough to help without joining the crowd around the ball.
Stay between the ball and our goal. Step forward when the ball enters your area, but do not chase into the attack. Get there fast, defend slow.
Protect the goal, talk to the defender and restart play calmly. Look first for a simple pass into space rather than sending everyone into a race.
Formation 02
Best for: pushing the game into the opponent's half and attacking with three clear points across the front. The three forwards stretch the defense while one central midfielder becomes the bridge to two defenders.
Start wide and make defenders decide whether to follow you. When the center forward has the ball, one of the best places to run is diagonally toward goal — not directly toward the ball.
Stay central enough to threaten goal, press their first pass and combine with the wide forwards. If two defenders come to you, release the ball to the open side.
This player has the biggest connection job. Stay underneath the front three so they can pass backward instead of forcing a dribble. When possession changes, protect the middle first.
One defender can step toward the ball; the other stays slightly deeper and more central. Never both charge the same attacker.
Keep the two defenders connected and be ready for the ball that gets through. On restarts, use the defenders or midfielder to begin the next attack.
Formation 03
Best for: giving us a strong, balanced shape with protection behind the ball and three midfielders available to win it, connect passes and support one striker. The striker is the point of the spear; the midfield line supplies the push behind him.
Stay high enough to give us a way forward and keep the opposing defenders occupied. Show for the ball when we need an outlet, turn when you can, and attack the goal when a midfielder finds space to play you through.
Start wide enough to stretch the field. When the ball is on your side, support it. When the ball is on the other side, slide toward the middle enough to help while still giving us an option to switch play.
Stay connected to both the striker and the defenders. Help us win the middle, give the ball carrier a safe passing option and decide when to support the striker. When we lose possession, protect the center first.
Stay connected as a pair behind the midfield. The defender closest to the ball can step; the other stays deeper and protects the middle. One presses, one covers.
Keep the two defenders organized and look for the simple restart. The midfield gives you three short options ahead of the defenders, so we do not have to force the ball long.
Guardians Football
No formation wins a match by itself. We win the ball together, give the player on the ball options, recover for each other and make the next play. The numbers can change. Those habits do not.
